Aerockbics Christmas Timetable

So last Monday saw our final rocking class at the Cardigan Centre! Thanks to everyone who came down and made it such a great session. Aerockbics will now be running on Wednesdays, 7pm only - we're hoping to find a new home for 6pm class next year. Will keep you posted!

Thanks also to everyone who has taken the time to complete the Aerockbics survey - I'm taking on board all your comments and hope to make the class even better in 2012. If you haven't filled a survey in yet then please come down on Wednesday and let me know what you think! Your input is invaluable in helping to grow and improve the sessions.

Aerockbics will also be taking some time off over the Christmas quiet period, so there will be no class on:

Wednesday 21st December
and
Wednesday 28th December

We'll be back at full throttle on Wednesday 4th January with brand new routines and some exciting new ideas. Make Aerockbics fitness your resolution for the new year!

Raining Bloody Hell

So whose bright idea was it to try and choreograph a routine to Slayer?

Oh, that's right, it was mine. What a dick.

This is PROPER hard, so I might not be ready til Wednesday. It is UTTERLY brilliant so far, it's just fast, and as is typical for Slayer it's less structured and more just a bunch of (awesome) riffs stuck together, hence taking more time than usual to get my head round.

Those Zumba choreographers don't know HOW easy they have it. Shake your bottom and you're done.

Aerockbics is £3.50 admission from tomorrow my lovelies! Thankyou for being brilliant.

RockNRoll Fitness TV 1: 10 Minute Combo Blast!

So here it is chaps, the first installment of RocknRoll Fitness TV, keeping you trim and toned on tour!

Remember, you don't have to use an amp to do this workout, you can use any stable object of a similar height (or lower to make it more challenging). Just make sure that it's securely pushed against a wall, or you'll go flying!

Good luck guys, let me know how you get on... 10 minutes doesn't sound like a lot, but executed correctly 4 times this workout is killer! It's superb for chest, arms, shoulders, core and yer arse.

Get on it! (and don't forget to stretch at the end, or you'll be sore!)

RockNRollFit TV!

Think going on tour is all junk food and sitting in the back of the van getting fat?

Think again....

@RockNRollFit presents a new series of tour fitness videos starting TOMORROW on the Aerockbics blog.

When Will I Get My Picture In The Papers?

Imagine Bros singing that. That's what's going on in my head right now.

I didn't actually get my picture in the papers, but lots of our lovely Aerockbics crew managed to get their faces splashed in this month's Leeds Guide! Yes, they wrote a very complimentary article about us, and you should definitely read it.

You can buy the Leeds Guide in shops in Leeds, or you view our review online here

Their journalist had a great time at our class, and I'm only sorry I missed her back-to-back air guitar soloing (as I was probably far too busy rocking my own riffs).

In the meantime we are wheeling out our Wild and Wicked Wednesdays next week! It has come around so soon! 7pm start, Wrangthorne Hall. Be there! Do it!

Oh, and there's a new routine coming next week.... it's fast and furious....

Chapel Of Riffs....

Yesterday I went to have a proper gozz round our new Wednesday night venue! The lady in charge of the bookings is so unbelievably nice. I really hope we don't disturb the "quiet" group upstairs running at the same time as us - I'm not sure she grasped the concept of a rock aerobics group and how raucous that might be. I have also started wondering how appropriate some of our tracks are for a semi-religious venue.... Ah well. Jesus was a maverick in his day, I'm sure he would understand. Let's raise the roof!!

ANYWAY, the space is bigger than the Cardigan Centre and with tons more character - there are also various side rooms and large toilets/disabled loos you can all use to get changed in. It is *perfect* - just hope the sound from my crappy ghetto blaster doesn't get sucked up into the eaves of it's ridonkulously high ceiling.

We shall find out on May 18th when the new night commences! £3 in as usual (I double dare you to find a fitness class cheaper)....

...And of course our normal Monday nights start back again next week (May 9th) at 6pm. I had promised you a new routine, but since being floored with norovirus over the bank holiday and with a Pilates exam to study for I must admit it has fallen by the wayside. So! I may not be ready....or will I.... I'll leave it as a lovely, lovely surprise. But there WILL be a new routine over the next two weeks, and we're veering away from the hair metal and back towards good old (or sort of old) punk rock - a band you'll all know and love. So there's something to look forward to, my little chickens of rock!

Be excellent to each other.

Aerockbics 2: Back In Black

Finally it is done!

Aerockbics Night 2 is starting on 18th May at Wrangthorne Hall, and will be every Wednesday thereafter at 7pm. Finally all the workaholics and people who are busy on Mondays - although God only knows what you're all doing -will finally get a chance to *ROCK OUT* Aerockbics style!

Wrangthorne Hall is attached to the big church on Hyde Park Corner, just round the corner from the Night & Day (is it still called that? so long since I was a student...). You know, it's on that road you sometimes drive down and then realise it's a dead end. And then have to do a twenty-five point turn at the bottom, Austin Powers style. THAT ONE! It looks a tiny bit like a scout hut from the outside -and the inside too- and I can't wait to make it our second home.

Some serious promotion needed to make this night as popular as our Mondays are at the minute, so if you have any friends who you think might fancy joining in.... spread the gospel! It's down to you guys that the night has been such a success so far, so I can only thank you again for your continued support. You rule, you know that. I'm going to drum up a little press coverage too, so that will help...And I'm still threatening to do a flash mob now that sun is shining!

Anyway, that's all from me for now. Can't wait to break the news to my duty manager that I have to cut down my shifts so I can take our Wednesday nights! YESSSSS

Aerockbics: 101

Rock music and aerobics. A force of endorphin-fuelled nature not to be underestimated.

I mean, it's no wonder we're all sick of the horrible music played down at the gym. Why should having awesome music taste and being into fitness be mutually exclusive? Let's face it, rocking out on the treadmill to AC/DC is only going to cut it for so long before you get tired and bored and in need of some company.

In need of a PIT!

Starting up Aerockbics now seems to me almost like a "D'OH!" moment. Why didn't I do this a year ago when I first qualified in fitness?? Answer: because I simply had NO IDEA how amazing and fun it would be. It's the class I always wanted to go to, and now it exists, and it works on every level I hoped it would. And more. It genuinely works for all fitness levels, the routines are good enough to get people pulling them out at their local rock disco, and it's a social, friendly class where you can actually meet people with common interests and have a laugh.

Now the only thing left frustrating me is how to get this out to a wider audience....

We're rolling out to two nights a week (hopefully) in May, adding a later class for our worker bees. It's time to spread the word and get both classes FULL. Business conundrum: I find it frustrating the way everyone who actually *comes* to the class loves it, but it's so tough to get people down there in the first place. I understand that our 6pm class may not suit some people's schedule, but what about all the others? Fear of the new? Just don't fancy it? Or... are the rumours true.... people who like good music just aren't into fitness? It's a wacky theory, but one a thousand big chain gyms confirm with their BAG O' SHITE playlists. Hmmm. Maybe my promotion and advertising just sucks.

Will keep mulling on't... now the weather's nicer maybe a outdoors session in Hyde Park on a weekend would be a smart publicity move!

...until then \M/
